ABOUT SERENITY DIVE CO.

Serenity Dive Co (SDC) was founded with the goal of helping others integrate SCUBA into their program of recovery. There are many parallels between the work of recovery and the skills needed to master SCUBA diving as you will see. In recovery, people often seek new purpose and identity. SCUBA introduces challenge, mastery, and awe reminding divers that life, like the ocean, is vast, beautiful, and worth exploring clean and clear. SCUBA diving offers more than just adventure—it can be a powerful therapeutic tool in the journey of addiction recovery.

We custom tailor each dive experience to you whether it’s a certification or you just want to try it out as you search for new activities in your recovery journey.

For SDC, smaller is better. We find it’s more effective to focus on an individual’s success than to hold larger classes. With this in mind, we keep our instructor:student ratio low.

Be on the lookout for annual or semi-annual retreats and events in the near future. Imagine spending a few days or a week in the water with your sober friends making new memories under the water!

In addition to our focus on the Recovery Community, we are a full service SCUBA company eager to help all clients with certifications, refreshers, concierge and guide services.

ABOUT PATRICK

Patrick began his recovery journey in earnest in 2018. For Patrick, things seemed to get worse and worse over time despite following the suggestions and advice of others: be they professionals, peers or loved ones. It wasn’t long before he began to understand the typical suggestions just don’t work for him- and many other people too.

From the beginning of his journey Patrick did not see his future “recovered self” as being defined by endless 12-Step meetings or having any separation between the work of recovery and the rest of life’s activities. He sought to find recovery inside of life’s activities instead.

Patrick’s interest in SCUBA started when a friend challenged the fear he had of swimming out in open water as being “completely irrational”. As soon as Patrick took his first breath from a SCUBA regulator, he realized he found a new path in life to support his recovery.

Patrick is trained as a Peer Specialist and continues working towards professional credentials in recovery work. He has a keen interest in recovery pathways outside of mainstream or typical approaches.

He is a certified Scuba Instructor and has earned a dozen other certifications with 3 different training agencies.
